Adrian Oetiker

In recent years pianist Adrian Oetiker has established an international name for himself, successfully concertising throughout Europe and in the United States. In 1995, he won the prestigious ARD International Piano Competition in Munich.

Adrian Oetiker was born in St. Gallen, Switzerland in 1968 and took his first piano lessons with his father. Later studies led him to the Conservatory of Z…rich, where he became a student of Homero Francesch and to the Juilliard School of Music, where he studied with Bella Davidovich.

As a student, he won numerous national prizes and scholarship awards, including the Gina Bachauer Scholarship Competition of the Juilliard School. He was also a finalist in the Tomassoni International Piano Competition in Cologne, the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Vevey and the Guardian Dublin International Piano Competition. In 1994, he founded the Chamber Music Festival of St. Gallen, for which he received the cultural prize of his hometown.

Adrian Oetiker has played with many Swiss orchestras including the Tonhalle Orchester of Z…rich at the Orpheum Music Festival 1996, as well as such orchestras as the Bayrische Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra, the Th…ringen Philharmonie, and the W…rttembergisches Kammerorchester. As a recitalist and chamber musician, he has performed all over the world, including Z…rich, Bern, Berlin, Munich (at the Gasteig and the Herkulessaal), Cologne (with the Philharmonie), Milan, Bordeaux, Istanbul, New York, Washington and Detroit. He also gains special pleasure from his duo performances with his former teacher, Homero Francesch and with cellist Suren Bagratuni.

Adrian Oetiker has made several CD recordings and in 1996 was appointed piano professor at the Conservatory of Music in Basel.
